BABY BOOMERS OF TODAY . . .
By Cynthia A. Speir
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity . . .
That famous literary excerpt from Charles Dickens' “A Tale of Two Cities” was written in 1859. He could have just as well written it in 1969 and no one would have been the wiser.
The Baby Boomer generation (born between 1944 and 1964, although there are some purists who believe 1960 is the more appropriate cutoff) has historically been one of the most eclectic generations that have ever lived. Some experienced complete sexual freedom, indulged in mind expanding substances and created an indelible style of music, all while watching the horrors of war on their TV's at dinner time. Some burned draft cards and some went to fight in steaming jungles in a foreign land. Still others lived oblivious to their surroundings never experiencing the “age of wisdom . . the age of foolishness.” Ultimately, in spite of our provocative initiation into responsible citizens, we evolved into a generation representing affluence, facilitating the development of the wealthiest nation this planet has ever seen.
As the largest generation that has ever been born, the Baby Boomers have created and swayed entire industries throughout the course of our lifetime. Now, approaching what some refer to as “retirement age” (who are “they” talking about?) we, as a cohesive group, are once again forging new rules en masse. We are driving the development of more companies and products that cater to our current needs.
Boomers aren't ready to retire. No way! We are ready to REFIRE!
Moving away from the corporate structure, more and more Boomers are creating their own businesses from their homes, via the Internet As once was thought, the Internet is not a “fad” but a bona fide way to communicate worldwide in seconds. It has coalesced the world into a virtual international market place in the center of towne. There isn't anything you can't sell, any topic you can't research and study, or any place you can't travel to through cyberspace.
The Internet has provided a solid opportunity to make a good living, if not an exceptional one. All one needs is some time, creativity and very few dollars to set up a business that can almost run itself. You can make money while sleeping, reading, taking a walk, or ???
There is a plethora of free information on how to set up websites, market products and services, and an abundance of people and service organizations who will help those who may not have funds to invest to get set up right away. A little research on the Internet, a service provided free at the public library, can open vast doors for those with the least experience. There are free classes at community colleges to teach anyone who wants to learn from the basics of the computer to building fabulous websites.
All one needs is the inspiration and willingness to learn. The great thing about the Baby Boomers is that as a group they have a lot more than inspiration and willingness to their credit. They invented “thinking outside the box” long before the term was ever coined. Do you remember when you didn't take risks, rather you went on an adventure? In fact, you never even considered anything you did as a risk? You were up for anything. You could learn anything. You went the extra mile before you took the first step. Sure you did, and now is no different. You're just up for different things now. And the good news is there's a lot more things to do now from the comfort of your home, if that's where you prefer to be.
The future has unlimited directions no matter what age one might be. No matter what one's income bracket is, or where one lives on the face of this beautiful blue dot in the cosmos. It's a one country world now, gloriously connected with the flick of a finger.

Here's glimpse from the “Baby Boomer Express, From Long Hair To Silver Where Do We Go From Here?” introduction:
Actually living in the '60's, particularly '66 through '69, and creating a phenomena known as the Hippies just by being, doing and acting like we really wanted to en masse was one of the most exciting and memorable times of my life. Long hair, faded jeans and bare feet were our uniform. Peace and love was our code. We survived on a cup of dry oatmeal in the morning, packed together shoulder to shoulder in the mud and rain and incredible music for 4 outrageous days. We bucked heads in '68 with authority in Washington D.C. and Chicago. Our collective voices were heard. Troops were evacuating Hanoi, while we were evacuating a slowly dying lifestyle.

By the '70's we were as faded as our jeans and ready for our own change. Living the streets or our car wasn't as fun as it used to be and we didn't have a war to protest anymore. Capitalism was beckoning us and we knew what we had to do.
Knowing what we have to do and not actually doing it is a human characteristic. There are so many outside influences and personality traits that prevent us from being who we really want to be and where we really want to go. But they're so ingrained in our subconscious we don't recognize them as things that hold us back.
We have been told by our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, bosses and friends that we must be prepared for retirement. But retirement was so far away and we would get to it, someday. A left over attitude from the Hippie daze. Now retirement is upon us and statistics show that some 95% of the Baby Boomers are not prepared for retirement in any way, especially financially. Savings, 401k's, pension plans, what are those? The monthly Social Security check will barely cover one vice, not nearly the several we rely on.
So what are we supposed to do now? We don't have time to build a retirement nest egg! Or do we? You are about to embark on an express trip to solvency, to security, to safety. We are going to explain why you don't have a nest egg, why you can have a nest egg, and why, above all, you don't necessarily need a nest egg.
Taking the trip from long hair to silver hair can be exciting and liberating. Climb aboard and find out what, where why and how you can enjoy the trip.
THIS IS GOING TO BE FAR OUT, MAN!

ST. DAVID COUPLE PENS BABY BOOMERS' HANDBOOK
Baby Boomer Express, From Long Hair To Silver Hair, Where Do We Go From Here? has arrived on time, and on the right track. St. David residents, Jim and Cindy Speir, had already been promoting their book locally and internationally in anticipation of its arrival, and now find themselves on the fast track as their book is now available in hardback at Amazon.com and www.babyboomersoftoday.com.
This is the first title in a series of twelve books under the Baby Boomer Express brand. It is targeted for the baby boomer market, those born between 1944 and 1960, of which there are over 100 million worldwide. This first book is an overview of the entire series of upcoming books, with subsequent titles delving deeper into the principles and concepts, according to Jim Speir.
The premise of the book encourages thinking of yourself and your current circumstances in a more positive light, regardless of whether it is exactly what you want right now. The book introduces tools and guidance to shift the way you think. “By shifting the way to think, you can make dramatic and positive changes in your circumstances, quickly and permanently,” says Cindy.
The book began as an essay for Cindy's Bachelor's degree in Metaphysical Sciences, which then became the dissertation for her Ph.d. Expanding on the dissertation, it evolved into this book.
Published Authors: Jim and Cindy Speir expect to embark on their international book promotion tour this year, beginning in the US, heading toward Germany and Australia at the end of this year. The St. David couple wrote the first in a series of twelve books that helps baby boomers to refire not retire.Although Baby Boomers is in the title, Cindy insists that the information and concepts in the book can be applied by anyone of any age to increase the quality of their life immediately.
The impetus for the essay turned book, came from the inspirational DVD, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Cindy feels that The Secret is incredibly important and has already benefited those who are practicing its message and will eventually benefit the entire world. The message in The Secret is powerful and easy to remember: that which we think about we become. Whatever we dwell on, whether it's positive or negative, comes to be.
Baby Boomer Express expands upon this message and offers practical steps to help anyone increase the quality of their life right away. As fellow baby boomers, Cindy states that she knows exactly the fears, doubts and concerns that facing so-called retirement age can bring. But over the past year, Jim and Cindy have changed their lives dramatically to a much more prosperous one doing what they love to do, not what they thought they had to do. They are living what they are teaching in their book, speaking engagements and seminars. Jim and Cindy feel it's not time to retire, it's time to refire! “If we can do it [make dramatic life changes for the better at this stage in our lives] anyone can do it.”
Having already been on a book promotion cruise in the Mexican Riviera, Baby Boomer Express was the ship's hit. Early response has been outstanding and the reviews very positive. Jim and Cindy have more book promotion tours planned for this year. They have been invited to Germany this October to speak, and plan to include a tour in Australia around the same time.
In addition to the book, Cindy has also created and is hosting an internet radio show: Baby Boomers Of Today . . . Where Do We Go From Here? on www.VoiceAmerica.com, 7th Wave Network. Cindy says the talk show is an extension of their book, with guests lined up through April. Her guests are internationally known speakers, authors and spiritual guides, and include many of the teachers that were in The Secret. Cindy says this is her dream come to life, “I always wanted to meet the teachers in The Secret and now I am interviewing them, talking to them on the phone like we've known each other for a long time, and making plans for future joint ventures.”
The Speirs have been approached by a group in the Netherlands to translate their book into at least four other languages, French, German, Swedish and Spanish, to start. Cindy would like to also see it in Mandarin, Japanese, Russian and other languages as well.
They have plans to reproduce the book onto CD's and into an Ebook soon. In addition to the subsequent 11 books in the Baby Boomer Express series, the Speirs have more books, CD's, Ebooks and DVD's in the works, which will be more business/corporate oriented.
“Now that the book is available, things are going to start moving really fast,” says Cindy, “and we are ready.” The Speirs' contact information is at www.babyboomersoftoday.com.

Our Spiritual Compass
by Rev. Cynthia A. Speir, M.Msc.
The Global Financial Implosion of 2008 had been predicted a little more than two years earlier. Real estate investment experts and financial gurus were reporting in early 2006 that "the housing bubble would soon burst," and that "the bottom is going to fall out," and that "there is no way we can keep going the way we are." All of these predictions have come to fruition and have, in fact, created the serious global financial crisis that we are now experiencing in 2009. Further, economists, government officials, business owners, educators, the media and citizens all over the world continue to live in fear of further decline and the ultimate complete and total failure of the world's financial foundations and the accompanying chaos. Based on the consensus of the masses, all of their doom and gloom predictions will also come to pass. It is the law . . . the Universal Law. THERE ARE IMMUTABLE UNIVERSAL LAWS THAT WITHOUT EXCEPTION EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING IN THE ENTIRE COSMOS LIVE BY WHETHER THEY KNOW IT OR NOT There are Universal Laws that have been handed down through human civilization long before the written word. Thousands of years ago, philosophers, scientists, theologians, even ancient "arm-chair" experts observed human behavior and compared it to subsequent consequences thereby forming concepts and postulations. Ultimately the observers agreed, even if they had never met one another, that there are definite patterns in the stars, the seasons, nature and human existence. These observers were able to deduce that there must be laws that govern the patterns they had observed. They concluded that indeed there are laws of a physical nature and laws of a higher order that govern not only human behavior, but also the existence of the entire Universe. It didn't take man long to figure out that there was light and warmth when a bright yellow ball rose above the edge of the land, and it was dark and less warm when that bright ball went below the edge of the land. Man also figured out that the big white light in the sky during the darker time had different shapes at different times. The more observant recognized a pattern in how the shapes changed (phases of the moon). If an observant man was able to last more than a couple of years before becoming a Happy Meal for a saber-toothed tiger, he may have observed that for a certain amount of time it was warm and for another certain amount of time it was cold, which also came in patterns (seasons). Throughout the centuries, advanced observations detected patterns in certain human behavior that coincided with certain results. These observations, conducted by more experienced minds, were added to the collected observations from previous generations. These more sophisticated observations lead to more finite conclusions that all life lived within patterns and these patterns must be in accordance with natural laws. These laws came to be understood as Universal Laws. The Universal Laws are not to be confused with laws that a church sets down, or a king dictates. The Universal Laws weren't etched in stone tablets or scribed on papyrus scrolls. However, the Universal Laws were revealed only to those who took the time and made the effort to recognize their existence and, most importantly, their significance to the advancement of human potential and spiritual growth. The Universal Laws come from a Source much greater than man. To this day, the Source from which the Universal Laws originate has yet to be fully understood, defined and, in some minds, accepted. It is not the purpose of this thesis to convince the reader that their beliefs are either right or wrong. The purpose of this thesis is to simply set out the Universal Laws as they have come to be defined, and provide enough information to entice the reader to consider their relative importance to creating and living the life the individual reader desires to live. This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of Universal Laws. Further, as man evolves, more Universal Laws will undoubtedly be revealed by the Source. For the time being, it is our collective and individual privilege and responsibility to learn and understand the nature and importance of the Universal Laws we now know. The Universal Laws we are going to discuss at length will not include the laws of Newtonian Science, such as the Law of Gravity, except to use them in a comparative nature. This discussion will not belabor secular laws written by man for the purpose of creating and sustaining religious conformation. We certainly will not discuss artificial man made laws issued by governmental agencies designed to keep the masses, well, en massed. This discussion will also focus on the origination of the Universal Laws. There are many names for the origination of Universal Laws, such as Source, Spirit, the All-That-Is, Divine Intelligence, Buddha, Allah, God, and many more. For the purposes of continuity, Spirit and Divine Intelligence will be used herein to refer to the Higher Power that created and revealed the Universal Laws to man's mind. In my research, I have found no lack in reference materials regarding the Universal Laws. There is a plethora of philosophers, theologians, physicians, psychologists, metaphysicians, mystic experts and every day folk who have plenty to say about the Universal Laws dating back to ancient Greece and Egypt. There are Universal Laws governing everything from controlling our inner most thoughts to avoiding a bad hair day. I make light because the amount of laws proffered by so many from the beginning of recorded history is overwhelming and, quite frankly, the sheer number of Laws tend to undermine the very purpose of the laws to begin with: to live in harmony with the nature of Spirit on an energetic level on the physical plane. As we discuss the Universal Laws that have been handed down through millennia different students will adhere, adjust and align with some of the Laws, while some students will find a few Laws redundant or illusive. It is for the student's greatest advantage to at least acknowledge the existence of the Universal Laws. It is for the student's highest good (and all of mankind's highest good because we are all connected), that he or she learn, study and apply the Laws to their daily lives. You are invited to accept, or reject, any of the Universal Laws that are presented in the following pages. But know this, whether you reject or accept even the most basic of the Universal Laws is of no consequence to Spirit/Divine Intelligence because they, the Universal Laws, have been created for your highest good. Since Spirit seeks its fullest expression of itself in material form, i.e. you, on the physical plane, the Universal Laws are Spirit in action. The student is sincerely encouraged to acknowledge the significance of Universal Laws to their personal lives. When you accept them and align your thoughts so that you are living in harmony with the nature of the Universe at an energetic level on the physical plane, you are living the purpose of the Universal Laws. Why? Because, combining spiritual consciousness with the human senses is the ultimate experience on Earth. Only with understanding and application of the Universal Laws, can you achieve and maintain the ultimate level of living. Use the Universal Laws as your Spiritual Compass to guide you to the highest level of consciousness you were created to reach. METHODS
Do
you remember multiplication tables from first grade? I sure do. It wasn't
my favorite subject. In fact, there is still a report card from first
grade in my parents' possession wherein Mrs. Shelp wrote in the Comments:
"Cindy needs to work on her I recall quite vividly learning the tables by rote: 2 X 2=4, 2 X 3=6, 2 X 4=8, up to 9 X 9=81. I learned to recite them quite easily but I didn’t understand what it meant exactly. It wasn't until later, probably the second grade, that I learned their significance. No one told me why two times two equals four. Or if they did tell me, they didn't tell me enough times. I am the kind of person that needs to know how something works and why it works. Just memorizing something doesn't answer any questions. A more contemporary example is about six months ago I was required to learn new software, not just one piece of software, but about six unrelated software programs all in the same time frame. I attended the training, was shown the steps, and then sent back to utilize them on my job. Now, I like to think of myself as quite capable when it comes to the computer, and am a quick study when it comes to learning software. However, the training did not include why certain steps were taken in a certain order to create certain outcomes. The training did not include how the software worked within its program. Upon returning to do my work (utilizing not just updated software but completely new software), I did not find the transition as easy as I had anticipated. In fact, I found myself getting frustrated and demonstrating a poor comprehension of the application of each program. Two months went by and I still fumbled with the more complex tasks. I was approached by the department supervisor who inquired how I was doing, knowing full well how I was doing. I explained that knowing the steps was just not enough, I needed to know why certain steps were taken in a particular order in one instance, but in a different order in the next. If I didn't know why, then how was I supposed to discern which steps to take and in what order depending on the individual project? What's my point? What do multiplication tables and software have to do with the Universal Laws? Plenty. It's all about how we learn as individuals. When
you get a new electronic toy and take it home, do you immediately unpack
it, turn it on and start pressing buttons? Or are you the type that opens the box, reads the instructions first then begins putting it together and setting it up? Or, do you take the box home and let it sit on the dining room table for a couple of weeks, intimidated by the possible complexity of the thing? Understanding how you learn should be your first priority when approaching a new mechanical object, a new language, or the expansion of your spiritual growth. Only you can really know what is best for you when it comes to retention, recitation and application. No matter what you are learning, at whatever stage in your life you are, it takes time. You didn't start to walk the day you were born; when you decided to go to college someone didn't hand you a four year diploma, and you probably didn't learn multiplication tables overnight. All learning comes through study, analysis and experience. If you are approaching the Universal Laws for the first time, it will behoove you to take your time to read and absorb, then test and observe as you go along. Keep in mind that the Universal Laws are as intangible as they are real. You can't touch, see or hear them, but they are here for your highest good, at all times.
I would like to be able to assure you that after a specific amount of time you will have true mastery of your life in harmony with the Universal Laws, but there is no time element involved. One day you may have an ah-ha moment, and the next day you might be scratching your head. The Universal Laws are deep, complex and sometimes may seem beyond the grasp of the human mind. At times it may feel like they aren't working for or against you, but that is simply conscious awareness (with a dash of patience). With time, study and application to your day-to-day comings and goings, you will see a pattern and you will come to understand the how and the why of the Universal Laws. FINDINGS A. BACKGROUND At the onset of this project, I found no lack in the quantity of Universal Laws suggested by the many authors, experts, philosophers, theologians, physicians, psychologists, metaphysicians and arm-chair mystics. The challenge was sifting through the vast array to determine which were the most common and, seemingly, the most important. Some Laws were recurring and served as the basis from which other Laws evolved. Collecting the information and refining it all into a condensed dialogue is a challenge, but certainly a worthwhile one to pursue. As I dove deeper into the many books, websites and other sources that set out individual laws, their application and impact, it became very clear that even the most cynical clinical scientist would have to look at the Universal Laws as real as the Law of Gravity, the Law of Centrifugal Force and Air. None of which can be seen, but are undeniably real, and have been proven scientifically and mathematically. The indisputable patterns of life coinciding with the Universal Laws is evident on every level of existence, beginning at the very moment energy coalesced to become matter. Given the sheer quantity of Laws, it would take a far greater amount of space than allowed in this treatise to elucidate all of the Universal Laws and their relevant application to our daily lives. Therefore, the student is urged to continue researching and studying the many sources available outside this course. B. IMPORTANCE OF THE UNIVERSAL LAWS Learning about the Universal Laws, studying them in depth, and applying them to your daily life is the answer to every problem, issue, concern, worry, doubt, fear and desire you experience. Knowledge and application of the Universal Laws are also paramount to achieving your highest potential. It is my sincerest intent to provide you with the first stepping stone upon which you may take toward the life you choose to manifest, for your highest good and the highest good of all. Raymond Holliwell encourages us to embrace spiritual and personal growth in Working With The Law (1964). Mr. Holliwell states: There must be a constant stream of new thought, better thought and truer thought to insure progression in life. As soon as you perceive the better, let go of the old, grasp the new. To continue to hold on to the old and inferior when the new and superior is at hand is to retard growth, and to this one cause may be traced many of the ills of man. *** A fatalistic belief is contagious, and when man submits to its influence, believing that the circumstances around him are stronger than the power within him, that man is defeated before the race is run. Raymond Holliwell, Working With The Law (1964:vi) In
other words, the circumstances in your life are dictated by your spiritual
growth. Spiritual growth is accomplished by expanding your awareness
through your mind, which is then manifested by the actions of your body.
Studying the Universal Laws is the first step toward increasing your
spiritual growth, raising your awareness, C. WHAT ARE THE UNIVERSAL LAWS? Simply put, the Universal Laws are indisputable, unbreakable, tangible laws that all things are governed by. "They are natural laws, mental laws, physical laws, and spiritual laws all at the same time. They apply to all life forms, all matter, and spirit, in all places at all times. They are the same for all beliefs, religions and cultures." Flowing With Universal Laws, Margo Kirtikar, Phd (2002). You cannot turn the Laws off. You cannot put them on pause. There is no letting them slide for a day or so. You cannot decide they don't pertain to you. They are working all the time for every one. Through them, man can create the greatest of beauty and the worst of horror. The power of the Laws flows to, in and through us all the time, all at the same time. It is only through study and conscious application that we can achieve our highest potential. The kicker is that we don't have to live our life according to the Laws. We don't have to study the laws, apply them, acknowledge them or even believe in them. We can go on our merry, or not so merry, way debating the concept that there is anything more than flesh and bone, rocks and dirt, money and sex. Sounds almost tempting doesn't it? It may even appear easier to live at this level of consciousness at first glance, but in the end it's a lot harder. In addition to the absolute wonder of our physical body and the infinite potential of our mind, we were given the gift of Free Will. Free Will is the ability to choose what it is we want to do, have or be. Unfortunately, man has taken this gift of Free Will for granted and has let it rule our lives instead of using it to create and achieve our highest potential. Free Will is like fire – it's good for us and it's bad for us. Fire warms and protects us, cooks food that might otherwise make us ill, creates light so that we can see when it is dark, and has its own innate beauty and charm that fascinates and mesmerizes. Fire, on the other hand, destroys relentlessly, without shame or exception, until someone decides to control it, divert it or put it out. The fire of Free Will burns within you. It is your choice to let it run rampant and destroy, or keep it contained for use from a higher level of consciousness. You are allowing the fire of Free Will to run rampant when you don't learn and understand the significance of the Universal Laws and apply them to your life. You can contain, without extinguishing, the fire of Free Will when you apply the Laws to your life and strive to live from a higher plane of consciousness.D. WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THE UNIVERSAL LAWS? This is a very philosophical question that has been pondered from the beginning of time and is still a subject passionately discussed and vehemently defended. Countless wars have been fought and are still being waged in, of all places, the Holy Land, as well as other parts of the world. That said, this question compels this author to suggest to the reader, regardless of his or her beliefs, the following concept. There is a Power much greater than man can truly comprehend. Some have given this Power name(s) and substance (a face and body), but first and foremost the Power is THE Creative Force which is formless, timeless and infinite in all aspects of the word. This Power is the purest form of Intelligent Energy which flows to, in and through everything all the time, all at the same time, from the very beginning of time, infinitely. This Power created absolutely everything tangible and intangible that ever was or ever will be. This Power creates the tangible and intangible out of pure energy by first imagining what is desired to be created. Then the Power coalesces energy into matter to form that which It has imagined or thought. ". . . there is only one Creative Process in the universe. It brought the world at large into being; every moment it is bringing man's personal world into being. By this process, a star is created, or a body healed. . . . It is quite evident that in the beginning there was no universe in solid form; yet all material out of which the universe would be formed was present in an unformed state . . . . The energy that caused the universe to be formed could only have been an energy that does not originate in the material sphere. The only known form of energy that does not arise out of matter is thought." [Emphasis in quote.] Dr. Frederick Bailes, Basic Principles of the Science of Mind (1971:48) (citing Judge Thomas Troward, The Creative Process In The Individual (1915)). Therefore, the Creative Source of all things, visible and invisible, is the Original Intelligence. It is evidenced in the eyes of a baby, the center of an orchid, the rustle of the leaves in the wind, the skyscrapers in the cities, the rings around Saturn, the patterns of movement between the neuron, protons and electrons that form your body. You can literally look inside a cell in your body or past the farthest star you can see at night for evidence of the Creative Source. You don't need a Petri dish or controlled experiments conducted in a clinical setting to prove that there is a Divine Intelligence that permeates everything to the infinite. The Universal Laws were created and revealed with elegance and simplicity by the Divine Intelligence for the purpose of providing the guidance with which to choose a spiritual path over the material. E. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO KNOW AND LIVE BY THE UNIVERSAL LAWS? In the Foreword to The Law of Psychic Phenomena by Thomas J. Hudson (1893), the author stated: "[Dr. Hudson] was only interested in 'sparking' an intellectual and spiritual awakening in man. Above all else, he was concerned that man be made aware of the great evidence of the existence of power in thought and of the importance of developing a spiritual nature." Above all else, it is the purpose of this composition to "spark" within you, the individual reader, a burning desire to research, learn, absorb and apply the Universal Laws for your highest good. Because as you live to your highest potential your very actions spark the desire within another, and their desire in another and so on. We are all connected because we are all created from the same Creative Source that flows to, in and through us all, all at the same time, all of the time.
